My name is Ida Karelsen and welcome to Board and Spoon! Here you will find the products that I whittle and carve at my home in rural Ontario. Local hardwood trees are being turned into useful kitchen tools and display boards in the 'here and there' moments of the day that I find between the other blessings of my life...kids, home and farm. 

My background is in landscape design and much about my love for design has been the challenge in finding lines and shapes that are appealing and natural. After an initial rough cut on a saw, each board and spoon is carefully shaped with simple hand tools until the final shape is produced. 

Value is found in putting your heart and soul into something; a little piece of myself is put into each piece. I feel blessed to turn a once strong, growing tree that no longer stands into a kitchen tool to be shared with families for many more years to come.
